Meditation timer on the go.

This package was inspired by the need to time my meditation somehow while sitting at home without having to look at a watch or incense, as I find it distracting. So I came up with this simple idea – mp3 files.

In this archive you'll find two mp3 files with zendo bell, one strike for the beginning and three strikes for the end of zazen. Then, you'll find three mp3 files with, well, nothing in them. More precisely 5, 10 and 15 minutes of silence. With these pieces and an mp3 player of any kind you can easily construct the playlist for your sitting. If you find computer's humming distracting (I do it with my laptop which is much quieter than my big desktop PC) use a portable mp3 player with little computer loudspeakers or even headphones.

I normally use the playlist as in the .m3u file attached – five minutes at the start (to lay the mat and the cushion down on the floor, light the incense and sit down), then the starting bell, thirty minutes of sitting and three bells for the closing. Of course, you see by now how you can construct a playlist for sitting of any length.

Enjoy and good practice.
Peace in the Dharma!
